Client's Objective:

Acclaimed filmmaker Byron Hurt wanted his documentary on hyper-masculinity in hip-hop culture to have a distinct visual edge that would be consistent applied to the film, online presence, and DVD interface & packaging.

Solution:

  • A visual brand identity was created and woven throughout the film, Website, and DVD
  • Developed opening sequence and transitional animations consistent with the energy and gravity of the film
  • Established bhurt.com to consolidate the film's airings schedule, educational lectures, events, and other educational information

Results:

'Hip-Hop: Beyond Beats and Rhymes' aired nationally on PBS and won People's Choice Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Byron Hurt appeared on media outlets including CNN and The New York Times. His Website was used as the main point of contact for a rapidly increasing global audience.
